Formed in late 2016, Trusted Obscurity is a holding organization that was created to promote live theater in Austin. It was formed organically by a group of local actors, producers and directors who were concerned about the continued loss of live theater venues in Austin.
The Stage at Water Street Project is the first of several live theater projects supported by Trusted Obscurity.
At The Stage at Water Street, we believe art always begins in the mirror.
Every community is defined first by its art. Without a thriving arts community, a city lacks the heart and soul to be truly great. So, after looking in the mirror ourselves, we decided to answer the call.
The Stage at Water Street is honored to be the city’s newest performing arts organization. We look forward to providing Austinites of all backgrounds a regular gathering space, as well as a calendar of rich, daring and enduring performances that transform.
When we look in the mirror, we see ourselves and one another. We see the opportunity to provide a live theater experience that captures the spirit of this city – and inspires, connects and provokes.
- To provide consistently high-quality experiences that are welcoming, inclusive and fun.
- To create an open and comfortable environment for actors, support, and customers.
- To practice unwavering sincerity in our transparency.
- To honor our audiences’ spirits.
- To break barriers and challenge the norm.
